Elbo discovered furnace glass in 2005 at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Tyler in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass and a minor in Art History. Following his graduation he met Zach Puchowitz, who introduced him to pipe making. For two years he apprenticed under Zach, until he moved into the Future Labs glass studio in South Philly. In 2012, Elbo left and moved up to Western Massachusetts to continue producing his artistic visions in pipe making.
Elbo's work is based on concepts directly connected to the function of his pieces, while incorporating older sketches and sculptures. This series dubbed, "Fossil Fuel" relates to the origins of oil, and attempts to comment on the American obsession with knowing where our products come from.
